Rick A. is hosting a Fall Event - Wilmington and Western Railroad’s Autumn Leaf Special train excursion on Saturday October 29 at 12:30 PM.

Spend a wonderful afternoon on the historic Wilmington & Western Railroad, chartered in 1867, and the oldest tourist railroad operated entirely by volunteers.

Enjoy an hour and half round trip train ride in a coach pulled by an authentic steam locomotive on its 10-mile journey through some of the prettiest scenery in the tri-state area.

Autumn Leaf Express
The train travels through Delaware’s beautiful scenic countryside along the Red Clay Creek, passing through a rock gorge, several farms, and see Delaware’s only covered bridge over the Red Clay Creek.

Surround yourself with the beauty and splendor of Autumn during the most colorful time of the year. Be sure to bring your camera and behold the best that the Red Clay Valley has to offer. We’ll assemble and carpool at a designated area in the Moorestown Mall at 10:15 am, departing by 10:30.

The railroad station is approximately a one-hour drive down Route 295, and across the Delaware Memorial Bridge. The station is just a couple of minutes from the bridge. We plan to arrive at the station by 11:30 AM

There is a snack bar at the station, as well as a gift shop and restroom facilities. You will have an opportunity to hear about the railroad from the many volunteers (engineer, fireman, conductors) that are always eager to answer any questions. Then watch the steam locomotive pull into the station.

Boarding our coach starts at 12:00 PM. Handicap access is available as the W&WRR has a lift for those that may need it.

Our train departs rain or shine.

Cost of train excursion is $17.00 for seniors. Please mail your check payable to Richard Ackermann, 22 Gradwell Avenue, Maple Shade, NJ 08052. Check needs to be received by Thursday October 13th in order to confirm reservations. Rich can be reached at 856.779.0221 or email Seabee6Rich@comcast,net.

When sending your reservation check, please include a note with your name and telephone number. Also indicate if you can drive or if you need to carpool. In addition to the $17 for the train, it is requested that carpool passengers' chip in to defray the toll and gas costs for the driver.
